My Uncle Derek got me into this incredible sport when I was 11 years old. I didn't know it at the time, but he was in the midst of a battle with Malignant Melanoma, and ended up passing away a few months later. He left a lifelong legacy with me in the form of kayaking, and I thought what better way to pay that forward than by pushing myself as a paddler to benefit an organization like First Descents. Visit the FD website for the full story, but First Descents uses outdoor adventures as a way of bringing about holistic and organic healing for those suffering from the disease.
$1,000 puts a cancer victim through a week long camp at First Descents. This is a life-changing experience for people who need it the most. The goal of this challenge will be to raise $5,000 for First Descents, and sponsor at least five campers for the experience of a lifetime with this excellent organization.
I would love it if you could support this cause. Check out the full details of the French Broad Distance Paddle HERE.
Thank you and see you on the river!
