Summit 2 Sea World Record Mountain Bike Descent

At 22,615 feet above sea level, Ojos Del Salado is the the second highest mountain in the western hemisphere and the highest volcano on earth. In March 2012, high-altitude climber Don Bowie and adventure athlete Michael Kantor plan to climb Ojos Del Salado and attempt several world records. The two will carry mountain bikes from base camp (17,060ft) to the summit (22,615ft) before descending the mountain on their bikes, then continue to ride 187 miles across the Andes mountains to the ocean nearly 23,000 vertical feet below.

The Summit2Sea expedition is dedicated to raising awareness and support for First Descents, a non- profit organization offering young adult cancer survivors and fighters outdoor/adventure experiences designed to empower them to defy their cancer. Through First Descent's kayaking, climbing, and surfing programs, young adults with cancer can break free of their diagnosis and reclaim their lives. The Summit2Sea expedition hopes to raise $10 for every vertical foot descended. To follow this epic expedition and get info on how to support the First Descents campaign visit: www.donbowie.com
