About Me
Hi! Kevin here, your local Sommelier/Wine Merchant and ski slave/Tester/do-whatever-is-needed for the K2 Ski Sales group here in Colorado. I decided I wanted(needed) a personal physical challenge and fitness goal as a New Years resolution. I've been a MTB & DH biker for 15 years and picked up road biking 5 years ago to keep MTB interesting and not burn out. That said, I settled in on the Triple Bypass as a lofty goal to place squarely in my sights. Then one looks at the route, 120 miles with 10,000ft of climbing over three mountain passes. http://www.teamevergreen.org/sites/default/files/TripleBypass2010.pdf Woah.....one hell of a day on a bike! The training schedule is and continues to be a challenge, but I am on track and getting stronger, increasingly fit, and more comfortable on the bike daily.
I was introduced to First Descents in it's infant stages by Brad Ludden when I went kayaking with him on occasion. The first fundraisers I recall were mini-golf tourneys in Lionshead followed by blow-out parties at Garfinkels. Too much fun! I wanted to do more to help, so since that first event, I've volunteered at camps, seeing first hand the difference and affect that First Descents has on the lives of all involved. Now I donate whatever time, effort, & resources from myself and from my ski & wine industry contacts I can possibly pull together to continue experiencing the joy of these camps.
Now I ask for your help. I would like the combined efforts of the donors(YOU) and myself to put 2 young adults who have had their lives endangered by cancer each through a week of First Descents Camp. At roughly $1000 per camper, all I ask is that out of the friends I pitch this to that each person do what they can to help. If 100 friends can donate an average of $20 each we get there very quickly. So please help us show two Cancer survivors the best week of their young lives! Thank you so much for your support of FD & myself!
